Surveys about future of village are sent to homes

HOMES in Broughton Astley have begun to receive surveys about the village’s Big Plan for future development.

The postal survey has been arranged by Broughton Astley Parish Council, and all 3,500 homes in the parish have been sent letters.

Christine Lord, parish manager, said: “Although many residents have already been involved in the neighbourhood plan process by attending consultation events; the parish council feel that it is important that everybody should have their say to enable them to directly influence development.

“The survey will provide residents with the chance to have their views heard on a variety of aspects of development; such as the preservation of the natural environment and open spaces, local transport, and areas for housing, employment and leisure development - including the provision of affordable housing.”

To encourage residents to complete and return the survey, each survey will be entered into a prize draw with a £20 voucher to be awarded to five winners.

Mrs Lord added: “Those residents who may find the survey difficult to complete – for example those who are elderly or have with problems with their vision; are invited to come a Survey Surgery in the Sutton Lounge at the Village Hall from 2 to 5pm on Monday, October 8, where parish council representatives will be on hand to provide assistance to answer questions and complete the survey where needed.”
