Strictly stars will be a highlight of glitzy ball

A HOLLYWOOD-style ball featuring stars from Strictly Come Dancing is being held to raise money for The Squires Effect.

The ball, organised by Kerry Summers, who was a client of hairdresser Claire for three years, is taking place on Sunday, January 6.

Susie Munton, one of Claire’s friends, said many friends and family will be taking tables at the event.

She said: “We could do with another last push for everybody. Flavia was in the Strictly final so we are hoping that will push it. Kerry is doing this all by herself but could do with a few more people.”

Kerry came up with the idea to have a ball but it is to be no ordinary black-tie event.

She has used her contacts to secure two Strictly Come Dancing stars for the evening.

The event will have a Hollywood theme and to compliment the glitz and glamour, Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace will both be there on the night.

Kerry is from Coalville and her partner lives in Foxton.

She said: “Claire had been my hairdresser for three years.

“She was just such a lovely girl. It was a huge shock to everybody when she died.

“All the different things she had done with her marathons and climbing Kilimanjaro.

“I just wanted to do something to carry on her legacy and the good work she has done.”

The event will have a casino with blackjack, craps, wheel of fortune and roulette provided by Acorn Events. Businesses have got behind the event and there are some impressive prizes up for grabs in the auction and raffle including a Bannatyne’s leisure voucher.

Kerry said: “It is unlikely that Flavia and Vincent will be making any further appearances of this kind in 2013 due to their heavy workload with the tour of Midnight Tango starting in January and running until August, and also Strictly which starts in August each year.”

There will be a photographer on the evening so people can get their picture taken with the Strictly stars.

Kerry has also arranged for concessions at the hotel venue, St Paul’s Hotel in Sheffield.

Tickets cost £40 and a table of ten will get one place free. To book a place, email kerrysummers@btinternet.com.
