Stricken lamb rescued by firefighters

A LAMB was rescued by firefighters after it fell in water in Gartree.

Crews from the Harborough station were called out to Welland Avenue shortly after 6pm last night (Monday) to pull the stricken animal free.

* A car fire in Saddington on Sunday night also prompted a call-out for firefighters.

A crew from Kibworth station arrived at Shearsby Road at about 11.30pm to find a car ablaze in a lay-by.

Two firefighters waering breathing equipment put out the flames, which caused 70 per cent damage to the car.

It had been deliberately set alight, said Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

* Firefighters from the village station were also called out to a home in Gumley Road, Gumley shortly before 9pm on Saturday night to put out a chimney fire.
