Stats revealed on troubled families

A total of 459 families in Leicestershire are costing the taxpayer £75,000 each a year, new figures revealed this week.

The county council has started work with 375 of these who have children who regularly avoid going to school or have an unemployed adult in the house on benefits.

The figures were revealed as part of a Jobcentre Plus initiative to get troubled families back into work.
