Sports clubs invited to bid for Olympic legacy cash pot
BIDS for a slice of a £410,000 cash pot aiming to secure an Olympic legacy are being invited from sporting projects in the Harborough district.
Leicestershire County Council has approved plans to invest cash from under-spends and reserves in its budget to support projects at sports clubs, schools and cycling schemes.
The Leicestershire Legacy Fund towards improving facilities and equipment and a second pot helping groups to provide additional coaching and staff training are now inviting applications.
Ernie White is the county council’s cabinet member for health and sport.
He said: “This is a terrific opportunity to ensure a sporting legacy lives on long after the Olympics and Paralympics.”
Full details on how to bid are available at the website )www.lrsport.org/ leicestershire-legacy-fund
The legacy bids will be open until mid-February.
