Spirits not dampened by Glastonbury-style camping
YEAR 5 and 6 pupils from South Kilworth Primary enjoyed a very short school trip – to their school field.
Afterwards Victoria Hawkins and Florence Holmes wrote a report about the memorable camping trip:
On Friday, June 24, Years 5 and 6 went camping on the school field. Some of the children’s parents let us borrow their tents and helped us pitch them after school.
The nine girls slept in a gigantic blue tent and the six boys stayed in a medium green tent.
Three teachers camped too and one teacher brought a pop-up tent that set up all on its own!
After we had unrolled our sleeping bags and pumped up our airbeds we played some games.
In the evening it rained and we squashed under a gazebo to eat.
Unfortunately we had left the potatoes in the fire a little too long and they were like lumps of charcoal!
We roasted sausages and marshmallows on the fire (not at the same time though!) and then we played some more games in the rain.
At bedtime we got changed, brushed our teeth and tried to get to sleep. The boys were extremely noisy and woke all the girls up (and the teachers) in the middle of the night.
In the morning we had a breakfast of toast and cereal and then our parents arrived to help us pack everything away.
Then we went home and finally got the sleep we needed! Even though it was as muddy as Glastonbury, everybody enjoyed it and had lots of fun.
