Singer Robin leaping from 13,000ft in aid of charity
A MUSICIAN who is used to hitting the high notes in his Frankie Valli tribute group will be hitting the physical heights next month in a bid to raise money for charity.
Robin Maughan, from Harborough, is planning to leap 13,000ft from an aircraft in a daring sponsored sky-dive for Cancer Research UK.
Mr Maughan, the lead singer in the Let’s Hang On tribute group to Frankie Valli, will be taking the plunge alongside friend Benn Johnson on September 23 at Morecambe, Lancs.
Mr Maughan said: “I shall be taking to the skies to conquer my fear of heights. The thrill will be amazing but also I’m very, very scared, I want to help people who are scared every day by funding for more help in curing cancer.”
People can make a £5 donation by texting BRSD50 to 70070 or can visit website www.justgiving.com/SkyDive2012-Johnson.
Mr Maughan, a former member of the town’s youth theatre, previously worked as an entertainer on cruise ships before success with Let’s Hang On. They will perform at Harborough’s Welland Park College from November 30 to December 2. Call 01509 557 245 for details.
