Tribute has been paid to Harborough District Councillor Jan Tooley, who has died following a short illness.

Cllr Tooley (65), Liberal Democrat member for Thurnby and Houghton, died early last week. A councillor since 1999, she served on council committees including scrutiny and regulatory panels. She also served as chairman of the council twice - in 2003/4 and 2009/10. Fellow Lib Dem Cllr Simon Galton said: “She lived in Stoughton and very much cared about the area. She was involved in a number of improvements there. It’s certainly a shock.” The funeral will be held at Stoughton Church at 2pm on Tuesday.
