Scheme for 111 new homes in village

A VILLAGE couple who were granted planning permission to build 50 homes on farmland on the outskirts of Broughton Astley last year have submitted plans for a further 111 houses.

The plans, lodged by landowners Ivan and Di Crane, include building a new community centre and sports pitches on the southern outskirts of Broughton Astley around the Crowfoot Way area.

The latest scheme says that 78 of the homes would be sold at a full market price while 33 would become social housing.

Harborough District Council has set a target to build 400 new homes in the village between now and 2028.

Broughton Astley Parish Council expressed concern at last year’s plan for 50 homes, which was approved in November, saying the village lacked community facilities.
