Rotary auction of promises raises £3,800
AN AUCTION of promises organised by Harborough Rotary Club raised £3,800 for good causes.
The event at the Robert Smyth Academy’s Sixteen07 hall on Friday saw 50 promises auctioned by John Gilding.
More than 60 people attended to bid for the lots, which included a holiday in Madeira, weekends away, a dream ride on a Harley Davidson and even a day having a look at how the Harborough Mail is produced.
The Rotary Club president elect Janet Meek, who led the organisation of the evening, said: “It was really enjoyable and we had some amazing promises, which were things money just can’t buy normally.
“We are very grateful to many local businesses and individuals who gave such lovely promises. All the money is for good causes, which makes it even more pleasing, as a rotary activity.”
The money raised will go to Rainbows Children’s Hospice, Hope & Homes for Children and Rotary charities.
