Reader photos: locust finds a kin atop a green bin

GOLDEN legs and golden antennas along with a bright green body made this an eye-catching sight for one Harborough resident.

Pictured here is a locust on a green recycling container – is it possible that this male locust thought it had found a kin atop this bin?

The locust stayed perched in place long enough for Simon Dobbs of Warwick Close, Harborough, to get a close-up photograph which he sent in to the Mail recently.

The locust has golden markings on its body and his eyes can be seen in this picture.

It is identifiable as a male due to its green colouring – female locusts are brown

Locusts are often swarming but this male looks quite content to spend an afternoon lazing away on top of the reassuringly green container.

Yet another advocate of Harborough district’s exemplary recycling schemes!
