A HOUSE in Fleckney has been made over by TV presenter and estate agent Phil Spencer.

The owners of the house, the Townsend family, have made many attempts to sell the house but all have failed so they decided to turn to the experts for some advice.

The four bed semi detached house from the 1700’s period still retains many of its original features as well as boasting six other rooms including two bathrooms, a cellar and several outbuildings.

The house will appear on Channel 4’s show, Phil Spencer: Secret Agent.

During the time of filming earlier this month, the star was spotted with his family at the Lubstock music festival in Lubenham.

The Townsends were given decorating advice by Spencer and have been working hard trying to get the house ready and refurbished for its open day.

The open day is an opportunity for any prospective buyers to be the first to view the newly decorated house.

This day is being held tomorrow from 11:30pm to 12pm at 2 Saddington Road, Fleckney.

The property was most recently put onto the market with Adams & Jones estate agents in November 2011.

Matt Gladman of Adams & Jones said that before the makeover the house was looking tired and needed “dressing for sale.”

Mr Gladman said that the furniture was not set out in the conventional manner as there was no dining room.

He said that the house also struggled to sell because of its limited client base which was due to the large outbuildings at the rear of the property which he said many buyers saw as an unneeded expense.

Since the refurbishment, Mr Gladman says that every room has been given an identity and each is very versatile.

The outbuildings have now been made into an office and a games room to try to make them more appealing to clients who view the home.

He said: “The house is a lot brighter now and looks like a proper home.”
