Posthumous award for inspirational Claire
Inspirational...Claire Squires
INSPIRATIONAL Claire Squires has won an award posthumously for being the most inspirational women of 2012.
The news of the award came after The Inspiration Awards for Women which were held in London last night.
Previous winners of awards at the event include Kelly Holmes, Karren Brady and Barbara Windsor.
The star studded event featured performances from Beverly Knight and former X Factor winner Matt Cardle.
The Inspiration Awards for Women celebrate the achievements of remarkable women who inspire those around them either through the media or through their astounding achievements in their everyday lives.
North Kilworth woman Claire, who collapsed and died a mile from the finish line at the London Marathon aged just 30, was nominated in the “most inspirational” and “inspirational fund-raiser” categories.
Claire’s death in April prompted a national outpouring of support for her chosen charity, The Samaritans, with the fundraising total on her justgiving web page rocketing from £500 to the £1m mark.
Her family and friends were at The Inspiration Awards for Women last night to collect the award on her behalf.
