RUNNERS who work at a residential home in Harborough will be taking on the Leicester Half Marathon on Sunday.

Claire Rice and Fran Harrison who work at The Gables Residential Home in Leicester Road have been running for a short while.

They decided to run the half marathon as a way of challenging themselves as they have only recently taken up running.

Claire said: “We decided to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK because they are a charity that work closely with the elderly to find prevention measures and cures for dementia and Alzheimer’s.

“The charity receive no money from the government for their research, which is why it is vital that people raise money for them.”

If you want to sponsor Claire and Fran either go to www.justgiving.com/franpaigeclaire or go to The Gables in Leicester Road to fill in a sponsorship form there.

Alzheimer’s Research UK are an organisation that fund research into Alzheimers and Dementia in the hopes of finding a cure or a preventative.

Claire said on the Justgiving page that a new case of dementia is diagnosed every 3.2 minutes, so all research is needed.
