Mum pleads for help to find crash driver

THE parents of a man killed in a crash on the A4304 near Lutterworth have renewed their appeal for the driver of another car involved in the collision to come forward.
Roy and Anne Spalding made the plea after an inquest into the death of their son Dean Spalding.
Dean, 27, from Lutterworth, died when his Ford Focus was involved in a crash with a car driven by Rudolf Meszaros.
Mr Meszaros said he was forced to pull into the path of the Focus after a silver VW Golf overtook him and slammed on its brakes.
Months of investigations by the police and appeals by the family have failed to trace the VW or its driver.
After the inquest, Mrs Spalding, of Birstall, said: “Our son Dean was totally innocent of what happened to him.
“But we do not have a complete picture even now. We would appeal again to the driver of the Golf to come forward and tell police what happened.”
Mr Meszaros was badly injured in the collision, which happened on the A4304 between Husbands Bosworth and North Kilworth, on December 4, 2010.
His wife, Rudolfne, 57, died at the scene and his daughter and grandson were also badly injured and needed hospital treatment.
Mr Meszaros, of Measham, told the inquest at Leicester Town Hall they were returning from a shopping trip when the collision happened.
He said: “I had just overtaken a slow-moving vehicle and, as I was returning to my side of the road, a VW overtook me at speed and braked hard about two metres in front of me.
“I did not have time to stop so I swerved and then the collision occurred.”
He said that the road ahead was clear and there were no obstructions to cause the VW to brake.
The hearing was told by another driver, Russell Strupish, that the VW overtook his van between 30 seconds and a minute before the crash. He said: “He was driving dangerously.
“I told my friend in the van, ‘what an idiot’.”
Another driver, Thomas McNamara, heard the impact and saw a white or silver hatchback driving away from the scene.
Accident investigator PC Rachel Marston said there was no evidence to determine if Mr Meszaros was taking emergency evasive action, or was in the path of the Ford Focus as he was overtaking the VW.
Coroner Lydia Brown said she believed Mr Meszaros’ account of what happened.
She said: “Both Dean Spalding and Rudolfne Meszaros are innocent victims of what happened.”
Mr Spalding died from head injuries and Mrs Meszaros died from a dislocated neck.
Mr Brown recorded verdicts of accidental deaths.
Police are still carrying out inquiries to locate the driver of the VW Golf.
