Moment of fame
MEMBERS of Desborough and Rothwell Photographic Society took part in a ‘Twenty Minutes of Fame’ evening, an event in which they could give a talk on their chosen subject.
Stuart Irons started by showing two audio-visual sequences, the first being of Brunel’s SS Great Britain which is undergoing restoration. The sequence illustrated both the interior and exterior of the boat.
The second offering was entitled A year in the Life of a Garden. All the photographs were taken of flowers, shrubs and trees in his own garden through the seasons.
Derek Mears took members back to pre-digital days with a slide presentation, illustrating many trips he had undertaken to Arizona. The slides showed the people, scenery, buildings and many more through The States.
After a mid-evening break, Paul Nickerson showed a series of colour prints taken at places made famous by television programmes – Holmfirth/Last of the Summer Wine, Scarborough/the Road to Goathland/Heartbeat, Prestatyn/Holiday on the Buses.
Trevor Rudkin detailed how he had made a compilation of photographic prints on one piece of photographic paper. These showed a selection of between 12 and 24 small prints showing his photographic interests – the Lake District, Rutland, motor racing and the Yorkshire Dales.
The chairman thanked all the participants and hoped it would provide an incentive for other members to volunteer their services on future evenings.
The next meeting is tomorrow (Friday) when Colin Southgate will be welcomed to judge the fourth round of the annual slide digital projected image league. All are welcome for a 7.30pm start.
