THE MAYOR and mayoress of Kettering paid a visit to Braybrooke’s Brookside Care Home to thank them for their fundraising activities.

Owners of the home John and Linda Clarke have raised thousands of pounds in recent years thanks to regular functions and events.

John managed to raise £1,960 alone over the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend, when he had his locks - which had been dyed red, white and blue for the occasion - shaved off.

“We always like to support the local community when we can, with regular coffee mornings for our residents and locals,” said John.

Mayor Jim Hakewill and mayoress Christine Hakewill visited the home last Thursday for a ploughman’s lunch event when he gave a speech recognising the home’s charity work.

Care home manager Helen Whittington said 55 guests attended. “We were very happy to serve everyone complimentary lunch and to have the mayor and mayoress of Kettering as our special guests,” she added.
