TWO teachers from the Lutterworth and Harborough area scooped a £200,000 prize on prime-time gameshow The Million Pound Drop on Friday evening.

Jimmy Croucher (31), from Lutterworth, and his wife Lorna (28), who is originally from Harborough, started Friday’s show with the chance of winning up to £450,000.

The couple’s penultimate question asked them about the real name of music stars Will.i.am, The Edge and Slash, and they lost £250,000 of their money when they gambled it on the wrong answer.

However, in their final question, they correctly guessed that there had been more general elections than Comic Relief events during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, 15 compared to 13.

Jimmy and Lorna, who were married in the summer, said they planned to buy a home with the money.

Speaking after the couple won their £200,000 prize, Million Pound Drop presenter Davina McCall said: “You played a blinder of a game and have been fantastic contestants.”
