Late Night Shopping
CHRISTMAS was given a roaring start tonight (Friday) as thousands flocked to town for this year’s Late Night Shopping.
Reindeer reappeared at the top end of the High Street where there was a Dickensian feel in the air helped by the many Christmas trees and carol singers.
The streets sang with music from every corner of the town.
There were musicians from Rock on the Rec’ and the newly formed Room for Music at a stage in Adam and Eve Street while Harborough Band put on a performance at the top end of High Street.
A band provided by Waitrose added a jovial feel to proceedings at the bottom of Northampton Road.
Miriam Barnett, who said she comes to Late Night Shopping every year, said: “Its very nice, really good. The Square and the tree looks lovely.”
There was a green goddess, a woman on stilts, a glider, a jeep and a mini tank rolling though the streets.
Colin Stone, of Harborough, said: There is a lot of good will and I suppose you probably meet somebody that you haven’t seen in a while.
Stalls were given a helping hand by the event with some of them attracting funds while others garnered interest in their various clubs and good causes.
Glyn Panter, of Braybrooke Cricket Club, said: “It has gone really well. People have supported us so much so that we are just about ready to go home for the night.”
