High School plans its new extension

LUTTERWORTH High School has submitted ambitious plans to extend its music and drama department and convert its changing rooms into an eating area.

The plans submitted to Harborough District Council incorporate a new extension to the existing gymnasium and stage area.

This extension will house changing rooms on the ground floor, music practice rooms in a new upper ground floor area and a new drama studio on the first floor.

In the planning application, the agents GSS Architecture say: “Internal remedial works will change the dilapidated changing rooms into an eating area and learning area. This area will be enhanced by a covered external area for dining, socialising and the like.

“The extension will provide modern changing facilities nearer to the external games areas while maintaining close proximity to the existing gym, hall and new drama room.

“The area created by removing the existing changing rooms will allow for the needed additional seating areas.

“The dining area is intended to provide an all day long flexible space for learning, studying, recreation, snack time and group work or meetings.”

At present, the school is single storey throughout, apart from the school hall and gym which are double height.

Three years ago Lutterworth High School underwent a £300,000 extension which saw the school hall, staff office areas and entrance given an extensive revamp.

The full plans can be found online by following the relevant links at the council website at www.harborough.gov.uk.
