MORE than £14,000 raised during a festive fun run held in Lutterworth last November was handed out to a host of good causes.

A total of 980 Father Christmas-clad runners took to the streets of the town last year to take part in the fun run – just short of the organisers’, the Rotary Club of Lutterworth, target.

The event was the third of its kind, and more than £41,000 has been raised in the last three years.

Among the beneficiaries this year were the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, which was presented with £2,250, Coping with Cancer, which was given £2,000, the Lutterworth Mayor’s Appeal, which was presented with £1,000 and Lutterworth’s two rotary clubs, which were given £500 each.

John Turner, event co-ordinator, said he hopes to exceed 1,000 runners at the next run later this year on Sunday, December 2.
