Get your kettles and biccies ready

PEOPLE are being urged to be part of something special by taking time out with friends, family or colleagues to enjoy a cuppa for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event.

The annual charity event for Macmillan Cancer Support is hoping to continue its success in its 22nd year as next Friday promises once again be a worldwide and Harborough district success.

And if you are hosting a charitable get-together then please let the Mail know of your contribution so that we can help publicise them in next week’s paper.

Last year hundreds of residents put the kettle on across the Harborough and Lutterworth area and raised funds at schools, businesses, village halls, community groups and homes.

This year is already shaping up to be a big success and several groups have already been in touch to let us know about their activities.

One of those is World’s Biggest Coffee Morning stalwart Doris Buckle of Glooston.

She first held an event in 1999 as a one-off but it proved so popular that 14 years later she is still going strong.

Her coffee morning event will be at Glooston Village Hall next Saturday from 10am until midday and will feature a raffle, cakes, preserves, a tombola and bric-a-brac stall.

Several other groups have also contacted us and they will all be featured in a big preview in next week’s Mail.

Money raised at the coffee mornings goes towards the medical, emotional, practical and financial support that Macmillan provides for cancer patients and their families.
