DANCERS helped Kibworth Relay for Life creep closer to their fundraising target at a Zumba marathon.

There have been discos, bike rides, car washes and more, all in the name of raising funds for Cancer Research UK.

Last Friday saw a three- hour Zumba marathon where 15 instructors taught a tireless crowd in relay.

The event happened at the Old Grammar School in Kibworth and hundreds of pounds was raised towards the relay on the night.

On Saturday 19 teams who have all worked hard to raise money for the cause will walk for 24 hours starting from midday.

The event is taking place at Kibworth and Smeeton Football Ground in Fleckney Road, Kibworth.

There will be a lap by cancer survivors, followed by a lap by all the teams before the 24-hour relay gets under way.

Duncan Jones, one of the Kibworth organisers, said: “We are hoping to raise £50,000 but we know the reason we are able to do that is because of the support of the community.”

Mr Jones said they are confident of reaching their target and that the day is about celebrating the fundraising to date rather than trying to raise more.
