Fuel shortages in town as motorists head to the pumps

TWO fuel stations in Harborough have closed and others are facing shortages as they wait for more fuel to be delivered.

Union leaders have today insisted there will be no strike before Easter but filling stations remain busy.

The Mail contacted four stations in Harborough at 2pm this afternoon (Friday, March 30) and was told the following:

Sainsbury’s, Springfield Street, Harborough: Closed - awaiting delivery.

Tesco Express, Rockingham Road, Harborough: Closed. Expecting a delivery 6.30pm tonight.

Protheroes, Northampton Road, Harborough: Very little fuel. Prioritising regular and account customers. There should be a delivery tonight.

BP Coventry Road, Harborough: Plenty of unleaded but no diesel. Running out of ultimate diesel. Expecting delivery today.
