Firefighters were called to Harborough's High Street this morning.

FIREFIGHTERS from Harborough were called to the town’s High Street this morning (Thursday) after a report of a shop fire.

But the report proved to be a false alarm, after the anti-burglary system at movie rental outlet Blockbuster was triggered accidentally.

The system released a ‘smoke cloak’ at about 8.35am, where smoke is emitted in the event of a burglary to disorientate thieves.

Two fire crews from the town’s station were deployed and a stop message was received at 9.02am, according to Leicestershire Fire and Rescue’s control room.
