DIFFERENT APPROACH - firm offers to take the strain out of difficult economic climate

A REFRESHING solution to mitigating the effects of spending cuts is being offered by a Harborough business.

Training and consultancy firm Rambutan, of Treetop Rooms, St Mary's Chambers, 9 St Mary's Road, Harborough, is offering not to charge for any work that the client is not 100 per cent satisfied with or which does not achieve performance targets set at the start of a project, be they increasing sales, profits, customer or employee satisfaction.

David Scott, director of Rambutan, said: "While now more than ever there is a real need to engage staff and improve management skills, organisations are understandably reluctant to risk money on training and staff development."

Delivering more with less is a mantra becoming familiar in the public and private sectors and is the theme of a recent series of reports by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

According to one of the reports "spending cuts can drive efficiency but it is only a combination of good leadership, careful change management and excellent line management that can ensure efficiency goes hand in hand with greater effectiveness".

One approach to this problem that the team at Rambutan has come up with is to take all the risk away from the clients they work with. A radical solution, but something that is being welcomed by organisations looking for a safe return on their investment.

"Our new clients really like this approach, it gives them comfort when working with us for the first time after which they know for certain that we will help them achieve their results," Mr Scott said.
