DARTS fans from Kibworth have raised £1,279.79 for Macmillan Cancer Care.

The money was handed over to Macmillan at The Railway pub in Kibworth on Sunday.

Dean Griffin of Hillcrest Avenue in Kibworth gathered friends and darts fans to help him with the 24 hour darts marathon.

It took place at The Railway pub in August.

Many came to cheer on the players while businesses in Kibworth provided raffle prizes.

Mr Griffin chose Macmillan as the charity because his wife Helen’s grandfather received help from the charity when he was ill.

Mr Griffin has smashed his original target of £500 and has thanked everyone who supported him with the darts marathon.

Eunice Loney, chair of the Market Harborough Macmillan Group was there at the handover.

She said: “It will help tremendously. It will stay in the Harborough area.

“It is not just about nurses it is about helping people practically.”
