CUSTOMERS at Sainsbury’s in Harborough had a chance to get a close-up look at one of the Paralympic torches on Friday morning (October 5).

The shop had set up a huge backdrop where customers could have their photo taken with the torch, which was one of those used in the relay between Stoke Mandeville and London in late August.

Liz Buffey, from Sainsbury’s, said: “Quite a few people stopped to have their photos taken with the torch.

“It was especially popular with young kids and parents – they were taking photos on their phones.”

The silver-coloured torch is on a tour of Sainsbury’s supermarkets. The firm was one of the main sponsors of the London Paralympics.
