Chill Out Bus is saved by young people’s charity

THE Chill Out Bus will continue to operate in the Harborough district after a new children and young people’s charity agreed to take it on.

It has been gifted to Harborough District Children and Young Peoples Charity which is based in Harborough by Voluntary Action South Leicestershire (VASL).

VASL had decided to stop the service that provided information and advice to young people in August due to problems finding money to fund it. It was hoped then that a charity would step in to save it.

The new charity will offer the Chill Out Bus as a service for engaging with young people in the district.

Maureen O’Malley, senior manager at VASL, said: “VASL Trustees are very happy with the transfer of the Bus to a new Charity, it was a tough decision for VASL to discontinue the service, however an excellent outcome has been achieved.

“We wish HCYC success in the future and look forward to seeing The Chill Out Bus continue its life in Harborough District.”
