Changes to town and village bus

A BUS which serves Lutterworth and Broughton Astley is to lose some nighttime routes as part of county council subsidy cuts.

The 84/84A service, which runs from Leicester to Lutterworth via Broughton Astley and Cosby, will no-longer visit Broughton Astley on late evenings, or on Sundays and bank holidays all-day.

Buses travelling in the opposite direction, from Lutterworth, will als terminate in Charles Street, Leicester, instead of the St Margaret’s Bus Station.

A spokesman for Arriva, which operates the service, said: “The money we receive from the county council has been reduced by £700,000-a-year and fuel costs have risen by 42 per cent.

“We can’t continue to pass these costs on to our customers by increasing fares and we cannot afford to run journeys that no one uses.”
