Cash boost for cinema project

A GROUP trying to bring the silver screen back to Harborough has received a £10,000 grant.

The Harborough Screen cinema project has been awarded the funds by the Big Lottery

Fund’s Awards for All.

The group say it will pay for a satellite receiver and decoder, essential groundworks for the electricity supply, headphones for filmgoers and the cinema’s ticketing system.

It will be based in Symington’s Rec.

Marion Lewis OBE, chair of the Harborough Screen cinema project, said: “This injection of funds is significant. We now have over £65,000 of funding in place in order to make the dream of a cinema in Market Harborough a reality. Work behind the scenes is progressing well and we are very excited about the cinema opening later this year.”

Regular updates on the progress of the Harborough Screen are posted on their Facebook page and via their Twitter account @HarboroScreen
