DAUGHTERS and friends of a Welford woman who died last year are organising a fundraising walk in her memory.
Pam Sutton died aged 58 on September 28 last year after losing a battle with breast cancer.
Now her daughters Jo and Natalie Sutton, of High Street, Welford, together with Pam’s friends Lin Waddilove and Pam Lane, have organised The Bosom Beauties Walk 2012 to raise cash for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.
The event will resurrect a fundraiser first organised by the two Pams along with Lin in 2004, and held again in 2005 and 2007.
The events saw the three friends encourage women to decorate their bras for walks through the countryside around Welford and raised thousands of pounds for charity.
This year’s event will be held on Sunday, September 30 and will set off from the Welford Youth and Community Centre after registration at 9.30am.
As with previous years, women will be encouraged to decorate their bras to wear during the walk, with a prize for the best-dressed.
Natalie told the Mail: “Mum always wanted to do another Bosom Beauties Walk but never got the chance.
“This one will be held a year after her death so it will be emotional for all of us.”
The walk will cover a distance of about six miles around Welford.
People wishing to take part must register beforehand and pay a £5 registration fee to cover organising costs.
They are being encouraged to gather as much sponsorship money as they can for the cause.
As well as walkers, the group is appealing for help on the day from volunteers, as well as donations for a fundraising raffle.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer is dedicated to saving lives by finding the causes of breast cancer and improving detection. diagnosis, treatment and support services.
Natalie said: “We want to raise lots of money. If we can help people through doing this - even just one person - it will make a difference.
“My mum was very well liked in the village so I think everyone is with us in wanting to do something.”
To register to take part in the walk or for more information, phone Natalie on 07889 595039 or Jo on 07973 377062.
