A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital on Sunday (October 7) after he came off his bike in Rockingham Road, Harborough.

The 60-year-old man suffered chest and shoulder injuries in the accident, which the Air Ambulance service said happened in the town at about 11.45am.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) was called to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service with the treatment and transfer of the patient.

They gave the rider pain relief and immobilised him to prevent any further injury or movement.

He was airlifted to Peterborough City Hospital for further treatment.
