Big thanks for making memorial event special

A COFFEE morning held in memory of a Harborough man whose organs were used to save the lives of eight people raised £1,7000 for the neurology intensive care unit at John Radcliffe Hospital.

Chris Margery (31) died of a brain aneurysm three years ago but the family took comfort in the knowledge that he became a posthumous lifesaver and have kept Chris’ memory alive by setting up the Chris Margery Memorial Fund.

A coffee morning at Great Bowden Village Hall last month raised an impressive £1,700 for the ICU.

Chris’ mum Steph said: “We are delighted to say we raised a fantastic £1,700. Our thanks go The Harborough Mail, HFM, Leicester Tigers, County Crafts, Unilever, Goodmans, Shire Press, Emerson and Wests, Brantano, Compare the Market, Jenny Allsop @ Flower Decor, Nature’s Purest and many individuals who kindly donated items to make this such a special morning.

“Our special thanks though are reserved for our brilliant team of helpers without whom this wouldn’t be possible. May we also thank Chris’s cousin, Paul Russell who ran the Great North Run last month in memory of Chris and raised another £800 for the unit.”
