Baby airlifted to hospital after crash
A BABY was airlifted to hospital on Saturday following a car crash in Harborough.
The one-year-old child suffered a bump to the head after the car it was travelling in left the A6 near the town and crashed into a hedge at about 2.30pm.
The Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) said they were called shortly after 2.30pm and landed on the road.
A statement said: “Once on scene, the crew examined the baby and took her to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and monitoring.”
The incident was the first of two call-outs for the air ambulance in the Harborough area over the weekend.
A 26-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital at 12.30pm on Saturday after falling from her horse and injuring her head and shoulder.
The incident happened near Husbands Bosworth and Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) was called to the scene just after 12.30pm because the location of the accident meant it was difficult to access the patient by land ambulance.
After landing in a nearby field, DLRAA paramedics immobilised the patient to help prevent any further injury.
She was then flown to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for assessment and treatment, said the DLRAA.
