ARRESTS AFTER MYSTERY DEATH

THE family of a man who died on Saturday have spoken of their struggle to come to terms with his death.

Grant Squires (25) of Station Road, North Kilworth, died in mysterious circumstances in the early hours of the morning.

Three people, who have not been named, were due to appear at Harborough Magistrates Court today charged with his manslaughter.

Mr Squires parents and his four sisters, Maxine, Nicola, Claire and Penny said in a statement issued through police: "Grant was a very likeable and social person.

"He will be greatly missed by us all and we will always treasure our memories of him.

"He died at a tragically young age but during his life he was loved by all of us."

They are being comforted by friends and neighbours, whom they would like to thank for their support.

"We are deeply grateful for the messages of support we have received from our many friends and neighbours. It is great for us to know that Grant was so well regarded."

It is understood three youths helped Mr Squires into a car in the Orchard Road area of Broughton Astley early on Saturday morning.

He was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary in a white Peugeot 106 car but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police made a public appeal on Sunday for the three youths to come forward but have now spoken to them about the tragedy.

They stressed the youths, who have not been named, are not the same three people who have been charged with manslaughter.

The three men arrested earlier this week in connection with the tragedy were a 53-year-old, a 25-year-old and a 24-year-old. Police said they were from the Lutterworth area.

A post mortem examination has been carried out but the exact cause of Mr Squires death has not been made public.

Detectives are still trying to piece together details of his final movements.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leicestershire Police on 0116 222 2222 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
