A lost cat has been reunited with its owner thanks to an appeal by a Harborough vet on Facebook.

Town and Country Veterinary Centre in Harborough is using the social networking site to locate lost pets.

In the past, if pets had not been microchipped or had tags on, the vet would have to wait in the hope that the owner would contact them.

Now the details are posted on the vets’ Facebook site, which can be found by searching for Town and Country Veterinary Centre.

Boots the cat was reunited with his owner after a neighbour recognised him on the Facebook page.

It is hoping more people will support its page to ensure news of the missing pets reaches more people.

Practice manager Alex Holman said: “We have been amazed at how quickly we can get a response. Sometimes, it isn’t even the owner who sees the Facebook posting but a neighbour or friend who recognises it.”
