A Harborough woman was left heartbroken after thieves stole her shed from her allotment this morning (Thursday July 28).

Frances Pollak, who has had an allotment for 17 years, decided to head to her year-old plot in Northampton Road Allotments to do some routine work.

She arrived to discover her shed missing from its foundations with the contents inside strewn everywhere.

Not only that, her vegetable patch had been completely trampled.

With no shed, Frances will have to give up her hobby as she has nowhere to keep her tools and there are no free plots in other nearby allotments.

She said: “I’m heartbroken. I know there’s been vandalism and things smashed in the past but I’ve never heard of anyone having a shed stolen.

“It was only worth about £200 with all the bits and pieces - how can it be worth the effort to steal?

“I’m going to tidy up my plot and then give it up. I just can’t believe someone would stoop so low.”

The police have been informed.
