EAGER crowds greeted the Olympic torchbearer in the village of Kibworth.

A party at The Coach and Horses helped add to the atmosphere of the day and the weather did little to deter the spirits of the crowds.

People lined the route determined to catch a glimpse of torchbearer Katie Hale, of Melton Mowbray.

There were cheers for every vehicle that passed the crowds, even the X61 bus and all its passangers got an almighty cheer from the crowds.

After the torch had passed through, people were buzzing with the spectacle of the day.

Julie Chaplin, who came over from Fleckney to see the torch, said: “I came out because it is going to be a once in a lifetime for me.

“I thought I’m not going to see that again.

“It was all over so quickly, the atmosphere was great. I just wish I’d got here earlier.”

All the money that was raised by the party at The Coach and Horses, where there was a barbecue and music, will go towards Kibworth Relay for Life.
