HERE are even more photos from the Olympic torch visit in Harborough today.

Crowds lined the streets in town to see the flame and there were also fun events at Symington’s Recreation Ground.

The torch first arrived in Rockingham Road near to Ashley Way at about 11.20am.

Margaret Curtis, (67), was among the first to see the torch enter town.

Mrs Curtis, who had travelled from Gretton to see the spectacle, said: “It was something special that we’ll never see again.

“It was unfortunate about the weather, but it was a nice atmosphere just like the Jubilee.”

Mother and daughter Sarah and Ashleigh Luker watched the torch pass by close to their Hartland Drive home.

Ashleigh, 11, said: “It was over a bit quickly but it was a really good experience.”

Sarah was impressed by the convoy which accompanied the runners.

She said: “It was nice to see all the different buses because they added a bit of variety to it. There were so many people about too, a lot more than I expected.”

Five-year-old Adam Cross watched with his Ridgeway Primary School classmates and mum Sharon.

Adam, of Thatch Meadow Drive, Harborough, said: “It was nice to see them waving the torch about.”
