Crossbow recovered during drug raids in Harborough

The Chief Constable of Leicestershire joined local police on two drug raids in Market Harborough last week.

Chief Constable Simon Cole and officers from Market Harborough raided two town addresses - one in Jubilee Gardens in the north of the town and one in Edwin Court, a block of flats off Kettering Road.

The raids were on Thursday, February 23, after search warrants were issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A crossbow was recovered from the Edwin Court address, but no drugs were found.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police explained that the Chief Constable, who lives in south Leicestershire, had been on his way to a meeting in London from Market Harborough railway station. His train was cancelled due to Storm Doris.

Finding himself with some unexpected free time, the Chief Constable decided to join local police on the two raids.
