Thousands of pounds seized during police raid in Bitteswell

A HIGH-performance car and £30,000 cash was seized during a police raid on a property in Bitteswell.

Officers raided premises at Mere Lane, Bitteswell, Leicestershire, and arrested a 33-year-old man today (Thursday, September 13).

He is currently being questioned by detectives, Leicestershire Police said in a statement this afternoon.

The operation is part of an investigation into burglaries where significant amounts of gold jewellery has been taken from houses.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Baker led the operation.

He said: “This is part of a planned operation to combat offences of burglary.

“Leicestershire Police is committed to targeting those people who chose to be involved in burgling people’s homes, and we will continue to act on information concerning criminal activity
