Street cordoned off after attempted sex attack

A STREET was cordoned off by police this morning (Monday) after a woman was attacked in the early hours.

The incident - which police have now confirmed is being treated as an attempted indecent assault - happened in Little Street - the alleyway between Church Street and High Street, some time between 12.15am and 1.20am.

Police said no-one was injured in the incident.

They have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.

The alleyway, which runs between the trident Fish Bar and Frutas, was cordoned off this morning while police forensic officers worked at the scene.

A smashed bottle was seen being recovered from the pavement.

A police statement released to the Mail said: “Police are investigating an attempted assault following an incident which happened in Market Harborough in the early hours of this morning, Monday July 9.

“The incident happened sometime between 12.15am and 1.20am today, in Little Street, an alley way near to Church Street, where a man attempted to assault a woman.

“No-one was injured during the incident.

“Enquiries are in their very early stages and police would ask anyone with info to come forward.”
