Shop staff warned after mobile phone theft

POLICE are warning shopkeepers and staff in Lutterworth to be on their guard after a mobile phone was stolen from a town centre estate agents.

Peter Jelbert, Lutterworth neighbourhood sergeant, said two men entered the Church Street estate agents and distracted a member of staff by putting a brochure on her desk and speaking in a foreign language.

After they had gone, she realised her mobile phone had been stolen.

The theft happened last Friday (August 10) at about 12.55pm.

Sgt Jelbert said: “We have seen this technique used in Harborough but not in Lutterworth before, so it’s one to be aware of.”

The two men were described as being Eastern European and both about 30 to 35-years-old.

One had stubble while the other had a goatee beard.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Lutterworth Police on 101.
