Police appeal as prisoner absconds

A CONVICTED burglar with links to Harborough is on the run after absconding from prison.

Felix Rooney (pictured below) disappeared from Hollesley Bay Prison, in Suffolk, on Boxing Day.

Suffolk Police were called after the 21-year-old failed to turn up for a 5.30pm roll call.

He was last see he was wearing tracksuit trousers and a black jacket.

A statement from Suffolk Police said: “Officers were contacted around 6.20pm reporting that Felix Rooney had failed to attend a 5.30pm roll call. He had been in the prison earlier that day for the 3pm roll call.

“Rooney was serving a sentence for burglary and has links to the Huntingdon area in Cambridgeshire and Market Harborough in Leicestershire.

“If anyone sees Rooney they should phone the police with the details. They should not approach him or take any further action.

“Anyone who may have seen him, or who may have information about where he is now, should call Suffolk Police on 101 or contact their nearest police station.”
