Pair arrested over raid on Desborough bookmakers
Attack...the scene at Coral this morning (Monday)
TWO men have been arrested in connection with a raid on a Desborough bookmakers in the early hours of Monday morning (September 3).
The Coral Bookmakers shop in Station Road, Desborough was left boarded up on Monday morning after its windows and doors were smashed in.
Northamptonshire Police have said they attended the scene just after midnight, and are treating the incident as an attempted robbery.
A 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, both from Corby, were arrested at about 1am in connection with the incident on suspicion of theft of motor vehicles, they said.
Assistant manager Emma Wilcox turned up to work on Monday morning to find the shop boarded up.
She said: “I was quite shocked turning up to work this morning.
“I don’t know the extent of the damage because I haven’t been in, but the windows have been smashed, and the door is trashed.
“This isn’t the first time we’ve been the victims of crime. Staff were held up here in May and the shop was closed after a ram-raid a couple of years ago.”
