New appeal in murder hunt

Detectives investigating a burglary at the home of murder victim David ‘Les’ Ross have revealed a man challenged youths outside the scene.

The burglary happened between 10pm and midnight on Friday December 14 last year - three days before the body of Mr Ross - a former bouncer at Harborough’s Club Enigma - was discovered at the Village Inn Express hotel in Corby

Northamptonshire police have said this week it is thought the member of the public challenged the youths late that same evening.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Kinchin said: “We have received information that a man was heard challenging a number of youths in the street outside Les’s home around the time of the burglary.

“This man has not come forward, so we can not say why he was challenging the youths.”

Police believe that Les was at work in the Rubix Club at the time but officers remain open-minded as to whether this information is linked to the burglary.

DCI Kinchin added: “We know a man standing in the area of Les’s home shouted at a number of young men around this time and I would appeal to this person to come forward.

“We are conscious that this incident might be completely unconnected to the burglary and may be nothing untoward at all, so we ask anybody who was shouting, or who was being shouted at, in Chelveston Drive around this time to make contact with the police.”

Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police’s murder incident room on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
