Metal thieves hit council’s HQ

THIEVES struck at Harborough Council’s HQ where they stripped lead flashing from three ground floor windows.

The theft took place on Monday last week, March 5.

The estimated cost of the lead is being put at about £80.

The council is now looking at non-metal replacements.

Cllr Phil Knowles said: “Thefts such as this increase the concerns of the community.

“If there are persons prepared to steal from the council office in the centre of town the question remains – is anything safe?”

Witnesses are being urged to call police on the 101 hotline.
