Armed raid at betting shop

A MAN accused of robbery at a bookmakers armed with a gun has appeared in court.

Christopher Walker (58), of Springfield Grove, Corby, is charged with robbing the Coral betting shop in Station Road, Desborough, on Tuesday. He is also charged with possession of a gun.

Walker was committed to Northampton Crown Court by magistrates in Kettering yesterday (Wednesday) for a hearing to be held in August.

He spoke only to confirm his date of birth and address.
