POLICE have released an image of a man they want to identify in connection with a distraction burglary in Broughton Astley.

The incident happened at around 5.30pm on Thursday, April 5, in Dunton Road, when the elderly victim opened her door to two men who were asking for sponsorship money.

The victim said she did not want to sponsor them, before the suspects made their way into her house. She later discovered around £600 had been taken from the property.

The first man is described as white, in his early 20s with short dark hair, clean shaven and around 5ft 6in tall. He was tall, of slim build and was wearing a white long sleeved shirt and dark trousers and was carrying a red translucent folder.

The second man is described as white, in his early 20s, around 5ft 6in tall and of slim build.

Detective Constable Miranda Edwards, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was obviously a distressing and upsetting incident for the victim. These men entered the victim’s house without her permission.

“I would ask people to take a moment to take a moment to look at the image and see if they recognise the man.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 4129 Miranda Edwards on 101 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer. When prompted, key in her identification number 4129. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
